Multi-Zone Air Conditioning for Restaurant and Kitchen
for Restaurant Group, Derby in Hospitality

The Project
A Derby city centre restaurant group required a new air conditioning system for their newly refurbished premises, covering the dining area, bar, private dining room and commercial kitchen extract. The challenge was to maintain a comfortable environment for diners while managing heat generated by the kitchen — all within a listed building.
We designed and installed a Mitsubishi Electric VRF system with independently controlled zones for each area, allowing the front-of-house and kitchen teams to manage temperatures separately.
What We Did
- Site survey and system design to suit the building layout
- Supply and installation of Mitsubishi Electric VRF multi-zone system
- Indoor units: ceiling cassettes in dining areas, high-wall units in ancillary spaces
- Outdoor condensing unit installed on the building rooftop
- Refrigerant pipework and electrical connections throughout
- NICEIC certified commissioning and system handover
- Service and maintenance agreement arranged post-installation
The Result
The system was installed over a two-week programme, timed to avoid the restaurant’s peak trading periods. The client now has individual zone control throughout the premises and has subsequently engaged Hargan for an annual service contract.
