Emergency Lighting Upgrade Across 40-Room School
for Nottinghamshire Secondary School in Education

The Project
The school’s existing emergency lighting system was ageing, non-compliant and failing periodic inspections. With around 40 classrooms, corridors, stairwells and ancillary spaces to cover, the estate required a full replacement programme to bring the building up to BS 5266 standard before the next Ofsted inspection cycle.
Hargan surveyed the full site, prepared a compliant design and agreed a phased installation programme that kept disruption to classrooms to a minimum.
What We Did
- Full site survey and BS 5266 compliant emergency lighting design
- Supply and installation of maintained and non-maintained LED emergency fittings throughout
- Central monitoring and test system linked to the school’s existing BMS
- Replacement of emergency lighting signage to current standards
- Full addressable system with automatic monthly and annual test logging
- Certificate of completion and emergency lighting log book to BS 5266
The Result
Works were completed across two half-term and holiday periods to avoid classroom disruption. The school’s facilities manager now has an automatically tested, fully documented system that satisfies insurer requirements and passed its next third-party inspection without issue.
